The NAMES Project - Canada Web site represents the culmination of a dream: to use multimedia and Internet technologies to celebrate and preserve the memories of those who have died of HIV and AIDS related illnesses. Our initial objective is to provide the Internet community with access to images of the approximately seventy sections that make up the Canadian AIDS Memorial Quilt (managed by the NAMES Project - Canada / Le projet des NOMS - Canada). Although many of us will never have the opportunity to view the quilt first-hand, we can experience these powerful memorials online. Looking ahead, we want these pages to develop into an electronic repository, containing graphics, images, and words that will help to preserve the memory of our lovers, our friends and our families.
